Pebeliti diminta untuk mengkaji teori-teori yang relevan untuk mendukung penelitian yang direncanakan (minimal 3 sampai 5 teori atau lebih) sehingga dasar penyusunan hipotesis penelitian menjadi kuat. Proses penyusunan hipotesis penelitian ini dinamakan cara berpikir deduktif.

Contoh:

Teori-teori pembelajaran kooperatif (cooperative learning) yang mendukung penelitian Anda:

Dronson, (1978): “Cooperative learning appears to be a promising method by which social studies teachers can simultaneously achieve both academic and socio-moral objectives”.

Cooperative learning refers to students working together to achieve a common goal. In addition to the usual learning goals, it includes the goal of establishing a collaborative/helping relationship among participants (McCulloch 1985).

Studies indicate that cooperative learning develops general mutual concern and interpersonal trust among students and increases students’ propensity for prosocial behavior (Slavin 1983; Sharan 1980).

Brady & Tsay’s (2010) study support the notion that cooperative learning is an active pedagogy that fosters higher academic achievement

Cooperative learning help students learn? Research has shown that students who work in cooperative groups do better on tests, especially with regard to reasoning and critical thinking skills than those that do not. (Johnson and Johnson, 1989 ).
